Sony ST-A6B
(september 1977 - 1980+)

Nice image eh?
From a japanese 1977 catalog - and the ST-A6B is very much worth a good image composition! Just like the previous ST-5950SD, the A6B is a real sleeper, lying among the myriad of worthwile but still completely overlooked Sony units.
Probably originally intended as a cheaper alternative to the ST-A7B, the 6B holds its own with a 7-gang varicap and slightly better DX performance. And looks to match ! And still a good sound  - an A/B comparison with one of the well known tuners could be dangerous for many of the latter!

Available worldwide under the same moniker (for once!) and with the same color... almost : greenish/bronze worldwide and somewhat closer to a dark grey in Japan - but both versions under the same "B" tag :)

Fairly rare in the USA but, as usual, quite abundant in Germany. The smaller sibling is the silver-ish ST-A5 which had the same basic design - and the same 7-gang varicap.
Do read the FM-Tuner Info review of the ST-A6B !
